The Greater Mankato Growth will be hosting a breakfast forum regarding the new overtime rules. Julia Ketcham Corbett, attorney at Blethen Gage and Krause, and Angie Ziegler, accountant with Eide Bailley, will be the speakers.
The Department of Labor released its long-awaited final rule updating its overtime regulations for exempt “white collar” salaried workers. These regulations govern which executive, administrative, professional, outside sales and computer employees are entitled to minimum wage and overtime pay protections under the Fair Labor Standards Act.
The annual threshold has increased from $455 per week or $23,660 annual salary to $913 per week or the equivalent of $47,476 annual salary; a 50% increase. This will clearly have an impact on employers and employees in the Greater Mankato area.
The expert panel will provide critical information needed to comply with this law.
