Attorneys Silas Danielson & Alyssa Nelson from Blethen Berens will be joined by Sean Hayes, Mankato Public Safety Fire Marshall, for their free annual seminar for Minnesota landlords on November 15th. This year’s seminar will take place once again at the Mankato Public Safety Center located at 710 South Front Street, Mankato.
Silas Danielson and Alyssa Nelson will address the substantial changes made to the landlord/tenant statues by the Minnesota legislature. Most of these changes are effective January 1, 2024. The changes will affect your business practices so please plan to attend so you are up-to-date on the new laws.
Sean Hayes will focus on the complaint aspect as it relates to the Public Safety Center. He will explain the process from the perspective of the Safety Center’s code and the steps they take to address complaints.
Nancy Bokelmann, City of Mankato Associate Director of Housing and Economic Development, will also be in attendance to share information about their Preventing Rental Evictions Program (PREP). She’ll discuss the City of Mankato’s interest to engage with landlord and property management in response to housing instability in our community. She will be looking for feedback from landlords as they’d like to build more partnerships to ensure rental housing is available and affordable in the community.
