Sample Notices to Employees under MN Paid Leave Law Now Available on DEED’s Website
The Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED) has published sample notices for employers to use to notify employees of the Minnesota Paid Leave law going into effect on January 1, 2026. Employers are required to provide notice to existing employees by December 1, 2025, and to new hires within 30 days of the start of employment. Sample notices include those for use by regular and small employers using the state plan, as well as employers choosing to use an approved equivalent plan. DEED has also published a sample notice to be used by employers who have designated workers as exempt “seasonal hospitality employees.”
Additionally, employers must post a Paid Leave workplace poster regarding the new Minnesota Paid Leave law, also by December 1, 2025.
DEED’s sample notices and the workplace poster can be found here. Sample notices and the workplace poster in other languages will be available soon.
