Associate Description


An associate must possess an LLB or JD from an ABA accredited law school and be admitted to practice in a given jurisdiction. An associate is a lawyer employed by the firm who is under consideration for partnership or ownership status.

Specific Responsibilities

  1. Provides legal advice to clients in a timely and courteous manner.
  2. Achieves requisite revenue targets.
  3. Provides quick turnaround and high quality output in oral and written communications.
  4. Is active or committed to business development.
  5. Is involved in training, education, technical and personal development activities to meet the strategic goals and objectives of the firm.
  6. Works effectively and efficiently within designated teams.
  7. Supports other lawyers as directed.
  8. Actively seeks professional guidance and development from senior lawyers where appropriate.
  9. Involved in appropriate professional and community organization.
